Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media analyst for more than twenty years. She is also a seasoned public speaking. Feminist Frequency is a website which hosts video and commentary looking at the portrayals of women in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic that has received awards for her work, is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which investigates representations of women in narratives from popular culture. In her efforts to dispel the myths associated with women in pop culture she also seeks to bring attention to harassment targeted at women and the other marginalized groups of individuals in the internet space. A graduate in the field of political and social thinking from York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaking engagement and has given talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival as well as the United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. From an early age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by the issue of gender identity and feminist thought. While still at school in 2009 she started her Feminist Frequency website. As of 2009, this determined young woman was targeted on the internet for her website featuring a series about gender and videogames. This attack didn't stop her, rather it strengthened her resolve as a feminist critic of media. Numerous awards have been awarded to her for all of the contribution she has contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a media critic. She was also the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit organisation that studies pop culture representations of females.
